Anyone else getting asked for a Net Security password for their PowerLINE WiFi 1000, mod# PLW1010?

Other details that is required about me and my problem(?):

>I'm in the States

>Bought this at amazon

>My ISP is TimeWarner 300mb

>My computer is just Windows 10

>My modem is a Motorola / Arris SB6183 SURFboard Cable Modem connected with an ASUS RT-AC66U Dual-Band Wireless-AC1750 Gigabit Router

>Using Ethernet cables (I used both the cables that came with the package and now my own cables...it still asks for a Network Security password upon WiFi connection)

>Downloaded the rar files from the Netgear Download/Support website for the recent firmware from PLW1000 [both similar models] but it only showed extractions for the URL of the download and some IMG file that has alot of data yet it can't be read due to some reason

Maybe it would've been easier for me to get my adapters connected to the internet with my PC if NETGEAR included an installation CD with my package (despite the adapters having their own IP address) however I didn't get jack..

I have an adapter connected to my PC with a LAN cable but the only thing I am able to see is the WiFi connection..and it asks for a default password.

I have tried (both with firewall on and off):

>admin

>ADMIN

>Admin

>password

>PASSWORD

>Password

>netgear

>NETGEAR

>Netgear

[from the Quick Start installation guide]

>Netgear##_EXT

>Netgear##-5G_EXT

>Netgear(my S/N of model)_EXT

>Netgear(my S/N)-5G_EXT

>NetgearPL1010_EXT

>NetgearPLW1010_EXT

>powerlinewifi1000

>POWERLINEWIFI1000

>PowerLINEWiFi1000

>plsconnect4me

I looked through reviews but they didn't get this problem..would NETGEAR comm help me? ,';^/

  • Yes.  Do this:

Connect your computer or laptop to the PLW1010 adapter (with the antenna) with an ethernet cable.

In a browser, go to mywifiext.net and in the login box, use admin / password to login to the config page.

In the wireless screen, there is a password already setup for WiFi (mine was bluebird34).

You can change it or leave as is, but in any case you now know it.

Log out of the config page, disconnect the ethernet cable, and login to the NETGEARxx_EXT

WiFi network with the password you just learned (or changed to).
