Authentication Problem

I plugged the WXN5201, smaller unit, into the wall socket + into the router.

I plugged the WXN5001, larger unit (WIFI) into the wall.

I secured them with the 2-second reset click button.

I used the WPS function to link the router to the wifi.

  1) I pressed the WXN5001 unit for 10 seconds, blue light blinking.

  2) I pressed the WPS button on the router.

  3) waited for steady blue light, eventually steady.

Still get authentification proble

When I am asked to put the password, I look at the back of the unit:  I tried all different options.

I tried using the Genie feature, but the Genie feature requires plugging the WIFI WXN5001 into a computer, and we don't have a spare laptop.

I don't see how to plug the WXN5001 into the main computer, as then I will have to disconnect the computer from the router in order to connect it to an effectively dead wifi WXN5001 box.

What I am trying to achieve is a wifi signal through powerline in the living room.

How to make this thing work, please!!!

Thanks.

  • You are not supposed to use the WPS button on the XWN5001 to link the router to the Wi-Fi.  The XWN5001 uses Powerline to link to the router by way of the XWNB5201.

The WPS button on the XWN5001 is used to link devices to Wi-Fi.
