broken earth prong

Hi, I have a powerline PLW1000 which has worked fault free for the past 12 months. However, the earth prong has now broken off ( I managed to prise it out with tweezers, after ishutting off the electricty first!) Would it be ok, just to plug the powerline back in minus the earth prong, or would I need to glue it back on? They are quite expensive to buy, and I'm reluctant to buy a new one, just becaus eof the broken prong!

Regards

Graham

It might help if you said which design of plug you have.

    US? UK? Europe?

On some UK Powerline plugs the earth prong is just there to operate the mains socket. It has no electrical connection.

Sorry yes, it's a UK plug. The prong seems to be made of plastic, and there's no metal inside it, so I guess it doesn't hold power, but just in case, is it still OK to use?

        Your call really.

Will it work without the prong?

I'd be tempted to try it.

If possible, glue the prong back on and then try it. If it blows a fuse, you have lost nothing.
