Doesnt work
Wow. I am very dissapointed and angry. Netgear has the absolute WORST customer service. I have a really expensive modem and router (router is **bleep**.. doesn't do anything it says it does)... lots ...

If I cut out the rant that clutters up your message, does this extract summarise the problem?

I have the PL1000 V2 (bought 2 hours ago).. go to set it up 3 green lights on both. I checked the internet on my PC and it said, "Identifying - No Internet."
Can you tell us what you did with the plugs?
I find that the best way to get two plugs to talk to one another is to have them close to each other. Then, when I have confirmed that they work together, I move the "remote" plug to where I want it. The movable plug will remember its settings when it restarts in the new socket.
What is connected to the "remote" plug. Is that the PC that is telling you "Identifying - No Internet."
If so, that message may have nothing to do with the Powerline plugs. You have connected the PC to a new network. If this is a Windows PC it may be trying to protect you. If so, then you may have to tell Windows that you are on a "Private" network.
Can you unravel this bit?

Which is this "third" light? The
There is a Quick Start guide for the device somewhere at the end of this link:

That will tell you what each light means.

Okay, sorry I’ve just had so many issues with my netgear and have spent around $700 trying to fix it and it’s the same bad connection I’ve had for a long time.
The third light is the power plug thing where it is different colors based on speed.
I plugged one into the wall next to my router and connected the Ethernet into the router (tried multiple ports) and all 3 turn on Green. I went to my room in the other side of the house and plug in the second one and plugged it into my pc.
It gave the unidentified message so I tried the security button.. didn’t work
I tried factory resetting both.
I tried setting up the main one (in the router) then the next one in the same room. I moved it back to my room and didn’t work. I went to the sleep for the night hoping for a response.
When I woke up I went to turn off my computer and it was connected to WiFi but the Ethernet changed.. it showed the name of my router but still said no internet. What suggestions do you have? The bottom light that shows the best speed will be green and then turn off shortly after. When I was getting ready to leave I saw a red light in the bottom on both (pc was already off). I didn’t have time to check so I checked and saw your reply and wanted to inform you.

If the pick-a-plug light was on when the plug was on when you had the two plugs close to one another, then that suggests that you electrical wiring has, as schumaku explained, "very different electrical circuits, lots of power cable extensions and distributors".
I would try a few different mains sockets around the house. If that light comes on for some but not others, then the plugs are probably OK, but you mains circuit has some sort of wiring issue that blocks the traffic. There is not much that you can do about that without consulting an electrician.
Where does the wifi come into this? The PL1000 is not a wifi capable bundle. That would be PLW1000. Is the idea that you will plug a wifi extender into the "remote" Powerline plug? If so, get it to work in the main room with the router, then move it to a room somewhere nearer to the room where you want the wifi and where the pick-a-plug LED stays on.
- kateawptonSep 07, 2018AspirantI have WiFi on my desktop that it connects if the Ethernet doesn’t work.

OK. Nothing to do with the Powerline network.
