The box that came with my kit is pretty clear on the issue.
"Connect the XAV5201 unit to your modem router."
"Connect the XWN5001 unit to an Ethernet-enabled device - such as an Internet-ready HDTV or set-top box - end other wireless devices through the WiFi access point."
In other words, don't connect the wifi bit to the router.
Manuals are often more confusing than the boxes.
