Is there a way to add a third AV 500 Powerline adapter to an existing pair?
I have XWNB5201 kit. One powerline adapter connected to the router and a corresponding powerline wifi access point. This access point is in my basement. I notice that my router coverage is patchy ups...

Yes, and the easiest test would be to move your basement powerline upstairs and see if it connects and at what speed. Then you can go get the XAVB5602 and be all set.

I've also had success with the actiontec 4-port powerline kit working well with the netgear products if you need more ports (cheaper too):
