Multiple XWN5001 Access Points
My question is whether I've got this set up correctly. I have purchased three of the powerline 500 Units that each come with an XAV5201 Adapter and an XWN5001 Access Point. I plugged ONE of t...

Each XWN5001 will have their own Wifi channel, username and password (although you can set them up to be the same on all three units). This is different to your router's wifi
Plug one in only and connect to it, then browse to http://mywifiext.net to access the setup menu.
Disconnect this unit and then do the same for the second unit, then disconnect again and do this for the third unit.
Once you have them all set up you should be ok
Hope this helps

I was unable to connect to the NETGEAR_EXT network that I saw on the list of available wifi connections. It was listed and "open and not secure." In the process, this possible network disappeared from the list and has not returned. http://mywifitext.net comes up that I am "not connected to my wifi extender's network.
As to plugging each 5001 unit in one at a time, this got me back to exactly where I already am: namely, that Netgenie shows I have a good network with the _5ghz network available through my Netgear wifi router that has its own SSID.
It is quite clear from Netgenie that all of the 5001 access points are on this network -- you can see them with their MAC address in the "Network Map" tab. So apparently my problems are simply due to poor wiring or interference in the wiring.
It is clear that when you plug in the 5201 adapter unit by ethernet cable to a port of the router, you do this NOT to connect to some different network but instead to connect to one of the Netgear networks that you have named and created a password for.
I can only conclude that my description of how to set this up is correct and that, as they say, "your results may vary." As note on other websites, the middle plug "pick a plug" feature routinely fluctuates from green to amber to red all day long.
