Netgear Powerline 500 WIFi Access Point Internet Security

installed the Netgear Powerline 500 WiFi Access Point, but know when I want to connect to the EXT it says "Other people might be able to see info you send over this network".  

Does this mean that anyone outside of my home can connect to this EXT? If so, how do I make it secure?
