Hi, I have a PowerLINE 1000 + WiFi (PLW1000). I changed the password of my Access Point (128 characters long), with the possibility of recovering the password, by answering the two security questions. I didn't change username, so it remained the same, i.e. 'admin'. During the first login after the password change, an error similar to: 'Content Error text/html ... PWD:/usr/www' popped up. I have looked references in my pc, not finding anything about folders or files. Can anyone help me? Thanks a lot!Solved2.2KViews0likes6CommentsSetting up security on PLP2000
Hi, Just purchased a pair of these devices (came in a box). I have these plugged into outlets in the same room, nearby, so that I can set up the security/encryption. I'm using this as the instructions: http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/PLP2000/PLP2000_UM_EN.pdf Question 1: Does one of the units need to be plugged to my cable router for me to set up the encryption between the 2 PLP2000's? As soon as I plug these into nearby sockets, the Power and the Pick_A_Plug (PAP) led's light up solid green on both units. Step 2 (page 13) says: Press the Security/Factory Reset button on the first PowerLINE device for two seconds. The Power LED starts blinking after you release the button, ... That never happens! The LED's stay lit solid. I have pressed the Security button for various lengths of time. I'm stuck at this stage.I could use my uunits (the Power and PAP LED's are solid green, so the units should work. But I don't want to connect to my router and use the units until I'm assured that the traffic is encrypted. Any suggestions?1.2KViews0likes1CommentPLP2000 Firmware, monitoring, how many PLP2000
I have a set of the PLP2000. One in the basment connected to my router and one on the third floor about 70 plus feet away. The 3 lights stay solid and when I connect my laptop to the one upstairs it works at my full internet or really close on speedtests, so that seems good. BTW, not crazy internet speeds but all I can get in my area is 120/10 but seems fast enough for me. Questions: How do I check/upgrade the firmware on these units - what utility? Should I get another set and put a couple or one more on the main floor - will this help? When I bring up Windows Genie, and click on the Powerline piece (I don't have anything else Netgear) I see the two Powerline adapters but the line in the middle is dotted with a lock that shows it's unlocked between them. Does this mean that the encryption is not on and should the line not be solid? When I click on the lock, I get another screen with a password set on the master unit and no password set on the slave unit. I did go through the encryption process with the button on the units and it worked based on the middle light lighting up on both as it was setting the encryption. I assume all is okay but the diagram seems to show that it's not locked/secure. If these lose power, do I need to turn encryption on again? I have my 5300 Asus ROG routers connected with these units and they all read okay as far as my Aimesh showing a wired connection to my Aimesh node all the way upstairs.17KViews0likes46Commentsadd a third PLP2000 to a network
I have a pair of PLP2000 adaptors between my office and the router. They've been working pretty well for the last couple of months. I also have a network printer in another part of the house where there's no ethernet, so I decided to get another PLP2000 adaptor so I could do this: The adaptors are sold in pairs, so I bought another pair. I was unable to pair the third adaptor to either of the existing pair of adaptors between the office and the router. I called Netgear's technical support (agent 2490) who told me that these adaptors ONLY work in pairs and that I'd need two adaptors at the router in order to connect to both my office and my printer. According to the agent, if I wanted to connect three devices, I should have bought an extender instead. That didn't make sense to me, since I read somwhere that it's possible to have a large network of these devices, and they're sold in pairs. So, can someone confirm: can I have a powerline network of 3x PLP2000 adaptors? If so, how can I introduce the third one (since, by default, it's paired to an adaptor that's not on the network). Thank you, AlexSolved4.6KViews0likes3CommentsPowerline 1000 Admin User name and password
I have been all over the Admin functions and I cannot figure out how to change either the Admin username or password. I have identified the password settings for the wireless network (not what I am looking for). The only other password change option I can find is not specifically identified as the Admin password. When I use it to change whatever password it is modifying it has me repeat the new password twice and set up 2 recovery security questions. Once I apply these changes it immediately requires me to sign back into the Admin account. Fine. Reasonable. Except that I attempt entry using the new password (that I just created) but it errors out saying that I have the incorrect password. I try this twice with no luck. Third and final attempt is with the default password which also errors out. Then account is locked and I must perform password recovery. I went through the above described process twice with the same result. Curiously I have also spent about an hour searching online about how to do this and I cannot find any definitive answer. Any ideas?1.6KViews0likes2CommentsPLW 1000 - Connecting other networks to mine - MASSIVE SECURITY RISK
I live in a condo/appartment block. I bought the powerline adapter and connected it to my network. When checking the ISP Modem, I can see other ISP Modems on my network, through the port where the Powerline adapter is attached to. I have followed this article: https://kb.netgear.com/29923/Changing-the-DST-network-encryption-key To change my encryption key to make sure it wasn't the lack of encryption. I have also turned of the Wireless component as I do not need this. I am still pulling other peoples networks! When I release and renew my IP configuration, I am given a Private network address, with the Gateway of another Modem!!! Please help! I work from home and this is major risk for me!2.4KViews0likes7Comments
