PL1200 causes router performance issues.

As soon as I plug one of these units into my router (and into the wall of course) my internet speed / consistency becomes garbage. I go from a 120-130 download 30 upload down to around 20-30 down and 3-8 up. As soon as I unplug the unit, it's fine again.

It'll start at 120 / 30... then drop, then climb... then drop... etc until the test is over. Unplug it and it's rock solid.

Is it possible that the signal is "bleeding" out through "noisy" appliances  / bad wiring in the same way that signal quality between PL1200s would be affected?

  • Based on some feedback I was getting in another thread I tried plugging in a PL1200 adapter in the same room and while the network speed was really still laughably slow it still managed to connect. And it was also equally able to disconnect for seconds at a time at the rate of about 5 times a minute.

I'm very disappointed in this performance but unfortunately with plug and play items like this I'm not sure there's much I can do.

      Hi Eno75

Reset the adapters to factory default and test again the connection.

  • Thanks. To be blunt these things are garbage. I went with a wireless extender that worked flawlessly clicking two buttons.

These things are going in the garbage.
