PL1200 keeps slowing down
Hi,
I am using a pair of PL1200s and have noticed some strange issues where they slow down and need to be rebooted to speed back up.
For example:
1. Plug in PL1200s fresh, and they sync at ~950Mbps. Fine, a speedtest over my 100Mbps internet line gets full speed and I can transfer from my NAS at 35-40MBps which is the fastest that the NAS seems to send at to any device.
2. After a while, usually after the device has entered low power mode and resumes (although not every time) I notice the speed has synced at ~500 Mbps which proportionally affects transfer speeds. E.g internet speed test gets 45-50Mbps and LAN transfers slowed down by the same percentage.
At this point you would assume there is some electrical interference on the line, but:
4. Unplug one of the devices and immediately plug it back in, and it syncs at full speed again and is OK for some time after that.
The weird thing is, where it drops down and syncs at ~500Mbps and it has proportionally affected transfer speeds, e.g getting 45-50Mbps internet speed. I used to have a set of TP Link 500Mbps powerline devices which would sync at 350-400Mbps and I would get full 100Mbps internet speed, and they only had a 100Mbps port on them but was getting full 100Mbps over the LAN too. So why would I get the half speed with these Netgear ones even when they have dropped down in speed but are synced faster than the TP Link ones?
Additionally, it can't be electrical use on the line causing it as I can unplug one of the devices, put it straight back in and immediately sync back up at full speed again.
It seems these devices have some kind of issue negotiating back up to full speed unless rebooted. Or coming out of low power mode?
Netgear are you aware of any issues of this nature and are there any fixes incoming? thanks.

Hi randomnut1,
Have you tried resetting the device? You can press the reset button for 30 secs. Also try connecting the adapters in just one room and see if the same issue happens.

Yes to both. Issue occured straight out of the box and also after doing a reset. Even tried in plug sockets next to each other to see if it made much difference.

Hi randomnut1,
If your device is still within store warranty, I would suggest you replace it. This might be a hardware issue since it has the issue straight out of the box.

I have the exact same issue with mine as well. From more research this seems to be quite common. I'm wondering if it's something to with the power saving mode?
