PLP2000 stopped working after power outage
My PLP2000 stopped working after a power outage.
All lights are on and green, network displays unknown and no internet, unable to even access router at default gateway. Windows shows invalid ip
Troubleshooting steps already attempted.
Repairing and factory resetting
Tried different devices and router
Setting a static IP on my device
Attempted different plug locations
Swapped adapter location between device and router
before accepting that the adapter is dead, I would like to know if there's anyway of manually updating the firmware. In the netgear powerline adapter utility, it shows the 2 adapters with different versions of firmware.
Thanks in advance

There is no firmware on standard PL plugs. It is on the PLW wifi plugs.

Is this using the PL connections? Can you access the router without PL?

What is that? Netgear stopped supplying its own powerline utility some time ago.
Other brands of PL devices do have utilities that use the same standard for the chips and stuff.

What caused the power outage? If it was a storm, lightning is very good at breaking electronic kit.

Default gateway not accessible through PL connection, router is functioning perfectly. Netgear has an outdated utility called powerline universal utility that identifies and allows manual changing of the encryption key. Power outage was caused by a blown transformer in the neighborhood.
I guess it's just dead.

A great way to send voltage spikes down the power network.

I have used that in the past.
You can do the same thing if you can lay your hands on another useful utility that Netgear has tried to kill off.

It has a useful Network Map, with a separate "button" to show Powerline devices.
Right click on the plug and you'll see a set of options.
If Netgear can't find the plugs, that may be another clue.

Admit, I have never (none for a longer time) seen a formal way on how Netgear did support any of these powerline devices, since some community members discovered that software from another vendor can be used for checking and updating (where required).
Not uncommon, some relatively simple power supply designs are used on any powerline brand, this is undoubted the weak point on the reliability of these device.
So yes cdxliv the death isn't uncommon, sorry.

Not that I have seen.
