Just an fyi, you won't see 500mbps on a powerline device. Powerline devices loose speed quickly with distance, switching circuits, and interference. You should have a gigabit connection to it, but you won't pass those speeds with powerline. I didn't find a review of that specific device but the PL1200 has been tested and is slightly newer/faster. Like CrimpOn says, try different ethernet cables. Also, what router do you have? Could be the router isn't gigabit but tough to know without that model.
