I was having erratric results from connectivity and decided to do a hardware factory reset by putting a paperclip in the hole and holding it for 15 seconds. Unit reset ok - and I can connect to the network now using the default SSID and password written on the unit. When I try to connect to the device's web page - I entered in the default username and password, "admin" and "password" and the unit says its invalid. I also tried my previous password - and it too is invalid. I had recently updated this to firmware .18 a few weeks ago. I would like to put my SSID and password back. Any help would be greatly appreciated.Solved4.3KViews0likes4CommentsDifference between PLW1000 and PLW1010
I am just wondering what the difference is between the PLW1000 and PLW1010. When I do a compare on the Netgear website, they look identical. I just purchased the PLW1000 at Best Buy and when I came home to research it, I found a PLW1010 on Amazon for $30 less. Any reason for the big price difference?3.1KViews0likes1CommentVery slow internet speeds with Netgear PLW1000
Hi I had my broadband service upgraded today from Virgin Media's residential 100Mbps fibre (using Virgin Superhub 3) to Virgin Business 350Mbps fibre (using Hitron CGNV4 router). My PLW 1000 worked perfectly on my previous service (with a steady 75-85Mbps speed) but I'm strugggling to get over 20Mbps speed (using speedtest.net) with my new service. I can, however, get speeds of 260Mbps+ by connecting directly to the Hitron router (either with ethernet or WiFi) so Virgin have understandably pointed me back at the Netgear equipment. The WiFi icon for both the 2.4Mhz and 5Mhz signals both show as 'full' (strong) on both my desktop devices (a 2016 iMac running OS X 10.11.6 and a 2009 iMac running OS X 10.6.8, using both Safari and Chrome) and connects without issue but the speed is obviously far from satisfactory. I have tried a number of solutions i) I have twice tried a Factory Reset on both adapters and installed the network both using the Security button; the Pick A Plug LED shows green on both adapters (signifying a Link Rate of greater than 80 Mbps/best) ii) I have tried a direct ethernet link from the receiving adapter to my device (to eliminate a WiFi issue in the receiving location) but this also records low speeds. iii) I have changed the ethernet cable between the sending adapter and the router (using Cat5e and Cat6 patch cables as well as the cable supplied with the PLW1000), again, without improvement. I have accessed the NetGenie using my browser and confirmed that the firmware is up to date (V1.0.0.6) and that the 2.4Mhz Wireless signal is showing 'Up to 200Mbps' and the 5Mhz signal is showing 'Up to 433Mps'. I have attached a screenshot of the settings. Any help and advice would be very gratefully received. Regards PaulSolved7KViews0likes2CommentsPowerline adapters outdoor, water proof?
Hi community, I want to place a powerline (with WIFI capability built in) just outside my house. Although there is some kind of roof above it, it will still get wet from the rain. So I would like to know if the powerline adapters from Netgear are water resistant (at least rain resistant) or not. I was mainly looking at the "PLW1000". Thank you for the info.5.1KViews0likes2CommentsPLW1000 buffering issues over wireless
I just recently purchased the PLW1000 Powerline Adapter with built-in Access Point to use another part of my house. The setup both physically and internally with the SSIDs and such was simple and easy. The issue I am having is a buffering issue while I am connected to the access point wireless. This happens on both frequencies (2.4 and 5). While hardwired to the powerline adapter, I get a consistent speed and connection. But wirelessly, my webpages, video and apps work for a little bit, and then all of a sudden they have to constantly buffer. The signal does not drop, and is constantly connected to the SSID with strong signal. I have had to either disconnect from the access point and reconnect to it, reboot through the www.mywifiext.net, or physically turn the adapter off and on, but it still consistently does this. I have updated the unit to the latest firmware (first thing I did when installing it), and have tried turning off either frequency to make sure it wasn't interference or a bandwidth issue. I have AT&T Uverse service and get a consistent 15-18Mbps down and 1Mbps up both wired and wirelessly via the adapter via Speedtest.net on multiple test weirdly. Direct from my router, I get similar speeds both wired and wirelessly without the buffering. Any advice/troubleshooting would be greatly appreciated because I as much as I like the device, if I cannot get this resolved, I will just return it for its inconsistency.3.8KViews0likes1Comment
