Power Level?

I recently installed a PLW1010 and found the WiFi power level to be rather low.  A laptop or a phone within 5 feet line of sight would only show 3 of 5 bars and my WiFi monitor would only indicate -50dB at the same distance.  I would have expected more like -30dB.

 

Is it a bad unit or is it a typical unit?
