Power line and nighthawk

Hi,

I have the net gear nighthawk mesh network. All good. I want to add netgear power lines.

My understanding is I connect the power line to my router via Ethernet.

I recently had a new router and it only has 1 Ethernet port. So if I use the power line I can no longer plug in my base unit for the nighthawk.

What do I need to have both powerline and nighthawk when the router only has 1 Ethernet port?

Thanks

You can buy a simple unmanaged gigabit switch. they're usually around $20-30 for t he 5-8 port variety.

    What was that router?

I've never seen a single-port router. Modems certainly. So it would be interesting to know what to avoid.

Thanks I’ll look at getting an Ethernet switch.

      It’s an eero 6 router.

I see a raft of things that could be "eero 6", a brand (eero) and wifi spec (6) rather than a model. But I see what you mean.

This seems to be a wifi-centric way of doing things. Too many LAN ports might baffle some of users.

If you buy a switch, go for something wirh at least twice as many ports as you think you need. It will cost not much more and you will soon find that you need the extra ports. I am currently on 16, with not many unused slots.
