Powerline 1200 - need more GB ports
Hi
After a truely epic nightmare with some TP-Link powerline adapters I thought I might give the NetGear equivalents a shot. However, unlike the TP-Link adapters NetGear only seem to make them with single network sockets. I have three devices in my living room that I want to connect so what is the best way to do this? Do I buy the PLP1200 and a basic NetGear home switch - would that work?
TIA
Yes that would work - a simple 5 port unmanaged switch would suffice. I personally would opt for a gigabit switch. The GS305 is very cost effective, brand new they're around £16 at the moment.
If you want to be able to remote into the switch to change settings (QoS, basic VLAN etc) then you could purchase a pro-safe version, which come with a Netgear Utility to be able to access their settings, but are more expensive.
As these switches are pretty much connect and forget, the first option should be sufficient in most situations.
Hope this helps
