Powerline 1200 on Surge Protector

Netgear advises against using powerline devices in any way that does not involve a direct connection to a mains socket.
My experience suggests that this advice is not necessary. I have put plugs into extension blocks, with and without surge protectors, and all works well.
The performance may depend on the hardware you are using, but I would not be deterred from trying the system you describe. It works for me.
