Powerline 1200 Pick A Plug lights are green. When I plug in ethernet cables they go red.Why?

I had the same issue.  I contacted support and they told me it was normal.  Well, no, it's not normal. because fluctuating speeds like that indicate a problem.  I was able to investigate and detrermined that my speeds were going from over 80 mbps to 0 then back.  Relatively new wiring, tried several outlets, no help.  Had to return.  These devices are very hit an miss.
