Powerline 500 + Wifi slow download speed mac
I'm not a network/IT guy, but I love the idea of the Powerline series. I got mine set up on the other end of my house, running direct to my iMac via ethernet. I do a fair amount of upload video streaming, and that seems to work fine, but regular internet browsing is PAINFULLY slow. It freezes regularly on simple pages like Facebook. Safari seems to work a little better than Chrome, but not great.
It almost seems like the box is filtering out a bunch of stuff? Sometimes Facebook will load but no images will load, stuff like that.
Is there a setting on the unit itself I can disable to make it faster? Otherwise I'm going to need to figure out how to run an ethernet cable from one end of my house to the other. :/

If video streaming is working ok but Internet browsing is poor its more than likely a settings issue than a problem with the units.
What DNS servers are you using for the Wifi unit (which I presume is the unit your iMac is connecting to)?

I'm not sure. when I log into mywifiext.net, I see that IP Address is set to "Get Dynamically from ISP"
I see the other option has fields for Primary and Seconday DNS but they're not being used/grayed out...

If I look under System Prefs > Network on the iMac, and look up the Ethernet settings, I see one DNS server listed: 192.168.1.254
It also has attlocal.net under Search Domains:
Does that help at all?
