Powerline 500 XAVB5201 not connecting to powerline
Hello, I have the netgear powerline 500 adapter xavb5201 v2 and I'm getting very frustered with myself because i cant get a connection working with my laptop. I really need this to work, because I'm practically unable to play games online due to signal strength and all the interferences i get because of it being wireless. I have tried factory resetting both many times and it still never works, I do have to use a usb ethernet adapter because my laptop doesn't have ethernet ports, but I dont think thats affecting this, however I did notice on it, it has lights for ACT, and LINK, when I try to set everything up, the LINK light is green and the ACT light is amber. Also, when i plug the ethernet cable into my wireless gateway which is 802.11ac dual band xfinity (don't know much about it) the ethernet port that i plugged it into turns to a solid amber color, which I think is the main problem, howeverI don't know how to fix this. My room where I have my laptop is somewhat far away from this as well and I have thick walls, so I dont know if this is what is causing this. I still believe it has to do with the ethernet port having an amber light at my wireless gateway. Thanks in advance, I am desperate to getting this figured out, and don't want my money gonig to waste.

Also, after I set it up, on my laptop, it will say unidentified network, no internet. Sorry for bad grammar, typed this really fast.

I'm a bit lost by all that stream of information.
What are you trying to do? Connect your laptop to the powerline ethernet with a wired connection? Or with wifi?
Do you know that your wired ethernet USB thing works when connected into the modem/router? You need to confirm that before you can troubleshoot the powerline ethernet
There is documentation for the XAVB5201v2 somewhere at the end of this link:
