Powerline adaptors and security

Hi I bought 2 powerline adaptors and they worked fine so I bought 2 more (this time with plug passthru). I read you can have up to 8 set up in the house. Only 2 are connected I have tried pressing the button for 2 second per instructions (first the main unit that is plugged into the router) and then the new adaptors but they were not connecting.  I have now seen post about setting them up in same room before moving and that has worked thankyou.  Should i be doing something to make them secure?  Thanks

syncing them does sync the security key. That's how you're making them secure.

Remember, when adding new plugs to an existing network, you need to follow this advice:

    >>> Adding a powerline adapter to an existing powerline network <<<

You need only one plug connected to the router.

Beware that advice. People have complained here that they hit a brick wall when they connect a sixth plug to the network. I'm not sure if this applies to all plugs, including the PLP1000.
