powerline utility + adapter problems

Hi!

I'm using xav5001 adapters between my router and computer, which is a stretch of about 6-7 meters and 2 different powerlines inside the house.

I've got the utility working at last, but when I'm trying to get detailed info on the adapters I can't get any. Both of the adapters are "un-named" and have "UNKNOWN" on model.
Does anybody here know what's wrong? Tried to have them in the same room, but had no luck with that eiter, still unknown.

And while I'm at it, can anyone explain why I only get 7 mbps internet speed on my 70 mbps line? Bought this kit just because I don't want Wlan and don't have the opportunity to stretch a new cable into the room I'm sitting in. There are approximately 7 meters between the adapters, with one circuit cross in the fusebox. Is that really enough to mess up the signals that bad?

I might add that I have my television and wifi router (for other devices) close by to the socket one of the adapters are plugged in.

I'm sorry if this got abit messy and stuff or some spelling mistakes, as I'm from Norway

Make sure power adapters are plugged into wall outlets directly. Not into power strips, ups or surge protectors any of these will slow them down.

Search internet on these adapters to understand how they work.
  • It's plugged directly into the wall outlet.
But I achieved better signal when I moved it to another outlet, then I got around 30 mbps, and even ~50 mbps when my wife turned the tv and sorround system off.
So I guess it's just mayor interference from those devices. Better find a better solution to the wirings in the livingroom :P
Thanks for the answer anyway :)

what is 2 different power line inside?

You have one XAV5001 and other non netgear brand for power line?

Usually noise the line can constantly change the speed you will achieve.

If possible I would do that...
  • I had a problem with Powerline utility v3.1.0.4 i always got the error "NamePipeServer has stopped responding!"

And the prblem was that i have dual LAN motherboard and when they are both in use the powerline utility doesn't work properly...and when i disable the LAN which is not connected through Powerline adapter, then Powerline utility works just fine!
  • Possible the confusion in application when dual nic is used

I don't think there is no record in forum with setup in the past..
