speed loss with newer devices

I have two XE1004 uits, one XE1004 is connected to the router, the other unit is next to the TV in another room. When I run speed test (I use speedtest.org site) connecting my laptop to the XE1004 which is connected to the router I am getting around 55-57Mbps download speed (I am on FIOS), when I run the speed test connecting the laptop to the unit in another room it goes up to 9-10Mbps. I need a steady 10 and above between router and TV to watch FIOS TV and existing scheme is not quite there, the picture is being pixelated / fragmented every couple of minutes. My question - would newer devices be able to squeeze a bit higher speed from my el. circuit, or speed degradation will be the same?

I have eliminated all the power equipment that affected the speed, so no more improvement on the electrical situation.

Thanks in advance.

Try relocating to another outlet in either room and using a longer cat5 jumper.
  • I am using optimal outlets already. So, any idea would newer devices be able to squeeze a bit higher speed than 9-10 Mbps, or speed degradation will be the same?
  • Power line devices should have utility to see what the is connectivity between two XET is connected.

Because using power do fluctuate any given time so even this model is max at 85Mbps at best condition you may not reach as well.

Some model has LED indication to tell you different Rates (Mbps) at the moment but if that is not the case then you need to use netgear utility to check the rates(Mbps)

I assume either side of power line is not connected to surge protector and directly to the outlet itself.
