Upgrade or replace Nighthawk R7000?

Question

I have an R7000 and a PLW1010 Extender.&nbsp; I hate having additional wifi signals and the switching that is required when I move between rooms.&nbsp;&nbsp;
&nbsp;
Unless there's a way to reconfigure the PLW1010 to be a Mesh style access point, it seems I have two choices to move to a Mesh network (which I assume, perhaps incorrectly, will be easier and faster).&nbsp; I don't necessarily need the powerline option. The signal from downstairs just barely makes it upstairs and would reach a mesh extender.
&nbsp;
AC1900, AC2200 or X4S (no idea what the diff is)
Change the whole setup to ORBI or other.

What makes the most sense?

I think my move is to replace this with another brand and never buy a netgear product again.&nbsp;&nbsp;
