Using new and old models of power line adaptors

4 years ago I put a pair of XET1001 powerline adaptors into service in my home and they have worked well.  Today I attempted to incorporate a pair of the PL 1010 's.  I can't get them to detect or link to the XET's.  I've tried multiple plugs all over the house without success.  Any  help would be appreciated

  • The XET1001 are HomePlug 1.0 adapters.  The PL1010 are HomePlug AV2 adapters.  The two are incompatible.

These were already four years old by the time you installed them. This model dates back to 2008, and precedes the "AV" standard for powerline devices.

The AV standard means that different generations (speeds) and makes should cohabit on the same network. But when they do they will communicate at the speed of the slowest devices. In this case the old plugs run at 85 Mbps. The new plugs are specified to run at 1000Mbps. Just recycle the old ones.
