Walking from the router wifi area to the Powerline wifi area w/ a tablet

I bought the XWNB5201 which is the Powerline with wifi. I have not yet installed it but I have a question I just thought of.

Here is the scenario: Lets say the front of the house has the router. When I walk to the back of the house with my ipad, it still has signal but its very weak and slow. If I install a Powerline and put the wifi in the back house, will my ipad seamlessly move from being connected from the router to the Powerline wifi as I walk back there and vice versa? Or will I have to go into the settings of the ipad and connect from one to the other whenever I move from the front to the back of the house? Thank you

  • If your network is properly designed & implemented you can move around it with a tablet and have it transition from access point to access point in a near seamless manner - I won't guarantee uninterrupted downloads or video calls, but you won't need to be fiddling with the connections.

I have just this set up. My Android kit – various tablets and phones – adapts just fine as I walk around the place.

The only time I need to force a switch is when the signals are of a similar strength and I want to switch to a faster band. I could probably find an Android app to handle that too, but what the heck?

Of course, iStuff may not behave in the same way, given Apple's propensity to write its own rules.
