XAVB5221 Encrypted?
I recently purchased and installed two XAVB5221 powerline adapters, which work just fine. My question is, is communication between them encrypted? (There is a security button on the adapters and I have carried out the procedure in the manual to 'pair' the adapters)

- FairytailVirtuosoThe security button on the device is to secure the connection between the two devices. It is recommended to use it specially if you are living in an apartment which other tenants are using powerline.
- DrMoppAspirantThanks for your reply, I understand that, and have used the 'security' buttons but what I was asking is does doing so encrypt the communication between the devices and if so at what strength?
- clithesProdigyYes they use an encryption key to encrypt the transferred data; default key is usually HomeplugAV. If you download the Netgear Genie or Powerline Utility software you can check/change this

I did get eventually get a sensible reply from Netgear support and downloaded the powerline utility which let me set my own password. Should have updated this thread, sorry.
