    Hi macadans,

    1. What do you mean by not found with windows 10?

    2. Does it work with other computer with different OS version?

  • Hi James
I have got two computer desks. One of them is quite old and works with windows 7 and the new one with windows 10. So the problem is that the powerline xe104 works with the old one but not with the new one. What I need to know is whether I can use this powerline with windows10.

    Thanks

Your network really should not care which version of Windows you use. But first you need to ensure that the Windows 10 PC has all the right drivers for your network hardware, in particular, for the network bit of the motherboard.

If you upgraded a PC to Windows 10, the standard Microsoft drivers might not be good enough. You may have to get "motherboard" drivers from whoever made the motherboard.

You can check to see if the PC's network is properly set up by plugging directly into the modem or router that you use to feed the powerline network. If that works, then troubleshoot the powerline devices.

By the way those plugs are seriously old, from 2005, first generat powerline that does not conform to the AV standard. They will be seriously slow (85 Mbps) in comparison with newer powerline devices. This is the plug to plug speed, and it is a lot slower than your hardware can connect to the LAN.

As Netgear put it back in 2009:

"NETGEAR’s Powerline HD family of products delivers up to 200 Mbps to any outlet, while the older-generation XE family of products delivers 14 Mbps or 85 Mbps."

Thanks have got even faster since then.

Might be time to get some new plugs.
