I tried all those things as well and eventually just uninstalled the device from the system (with the delete software box checked) and restarted the computer and suddenly it started working again. Not sure why, and it's no longer even listed under Network Adapters but that's what worked for me.

Goods feedback.
It could be that uninstalling the device removed the existing USB drivers and a hidden set kicked in, or you have found that Windows comes with native drivers that work for this USB adapter.
