Help with Nighthawk A8000 AXE3000 WiFi Adapter
I bought the Nighthawk A8000 AXE3000 with the MT7961AU chipset since it is supposed to be the better of the 2 adapters I now have...can't get it t work. I've followed all instructions from the USB drive, tried installers from the internet, removed and reinstalled it all, I have spent 13 hours trying to troubleshoot this and I've got nothing to show for it. Even called NETGEAR and I knew more about then damn device than the guy working there did, and I've only had the thing for like 15 hours....
I'm running Parrot OS 6.2 (lorikeet) on Kernal 6.9.7 on a Lenovo Ideapad 330s. I also dual-boot into Windows 11.
On Windows I'm running into the same exact issue. Computer won't read device. In Device Management the adapter shows up as "Wireless_Device" under some random unknown drivers tab. Linux at least reads that it's a Netgear device. So anyone have any experience with this?

Netgear makes no claim that the A8000 supports Macs. In general it has a hard time keeping up with Apple's every changing OS environment. So it seems to have abandoned Macs in newer adapters.
None of these USB devices claims to support Linux. People turn up here from time time to with that question, but I have yet to see any reference to a successful Linux installation.
Windows usually accepts these USB adapters, but it can fall over for various reasons.
Did you download the latest software for the A8000?
A8000 Software Version 1.0.0.125 (Windows) - NETGEAR Support
It actually claims to be the initial release, but worth trying if you don't have it.
There can also be driver issues at the chipset level in Windows.
You say you have two adapters. Does the other one work? Could it conflict with the new one? Have you tried removing all of these devices? When you do that, look for "Hidden Devices" in Device Manager.
Just another user with time on their hands.
