Wifi Usb Adapter Not FInding Wireless Hotspot

I have this set up on my PC that has no wifi on it's own. I am trying to connect my phone to the adapter with my wireless hotspot, and it cannot detect my phone. When I put in the wireless security type, name, and password, it says failed to connect to my phone. I have a wireless router built into my internet modem, and it can pick that up most of the time, but it can't find my phone. Any help would be nice.

If the adapter finds the router, this suggests that it is working as expected and that the problem is with the phone's wifi hotspot.

Can the adapter see the SSID from the phone?

It only shows me my home internet and never picks up my phone. I have connected my mobile hotspot to my Xbox one, and it worked perfectly. I have purchased two of these adapters and neither of them can pick up my phone's hotspot.

It cannot pick up anything from my phone.

        Hi Godzi1954,

What is the driver version of the adapter?
