WNCE4004 vs WNCE3001

You know the basic wireless capabilities of both units, but the quality difference "under the hood" of the units is drastic. The WNCE3001 came out in September 2011 and is powered with 16MB of memory and chip solutions from Realtek. Realtek in the wifi world is the low-end budget chip brand solution. The Realtek System-on-Chip in the unit runs at 400Mhz.
The WNCE4004 came out in September 2012 whiole year after the WNCE3001. It is powered with double the amount of memeory, 32MB, and the chip solutions inside came from Qualcomm-Atheros. An AR7241 System-on-Chip powers the unit at 400Mhz, while an AR9580 chip is the WiFi radio in it. The AR9580 is a better WiFi radio when it comes to processing voice & video-over-IP media streams than the Realtek RTL8192DR WiFi radio in the WNCE3001.
