Using install disk, install hangs at "detecting adapter."  I have tried using different download versions of software from Netgear download site.  I have also uninstalled previous installed versions,...

I have followed all instructions exactly.

 

I have also tried to use windows update by just plugging adapter in.  I get the message the same message.

 

I have also tried installing it with antivirus turned off.

 

I have also tried installing it with "safe mode & networking."

Forgot to add that I'm using Win 7.

    Have you looked into removing the old drivers?

     

    These will be hidden in Windows.

     

    > Device Manager

    > Network Adapters

    > View

    > Show Hidden Devices

     

    There may be "greyed out" drivers in there that need removing.
