When I reset the extender and did the new setup again, I selected different names for the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands, and could complete the process. However, devices such as the wireless DVR, will not pickup the extender bands, because the names are different than the primary, even though the passwords are the same.
I read there is a process to rename the 2.4 & 5 bands, but do I have to run the setup again? Is there another way to login to the extender using my newly created account and password?
It should be possible to reconfigure the DVR to use the extender WiFi's network name.
But you can also connect to the client network with a laptop, and enter mywifiext.net. That should take you into the extender's web page. You will need to log in using the credentials you used when you set up the extender the first time. Once in you can change the client network names.
