AC750 EX6100 - New Extender Setup recycles back

Hi There,

I need a help.

I have a AC750 EX6100 wireless range extender and using it as an extender for a while.

When ever I logged to the extender, it was displaying "New Firmware available". Initially, I did not bother.

After a seeing the message several times, I selected the firmware 1.0.2.6 from  Netgear site and applied to the extender EX6100.

After doing so, I could NOT login back to the extender.

When I selected http://www.mywifiext.net site, It displayed a page with button "New Extender Setup".

I selected the button and the browser displayed Create New Account window.

I filled the form, including couple of questions and answers (it displayed the "Next" button).

I selected the "Next" button, the browser displyed the initial page with "New Extender Setup" button.

I filled it again, selected "Next" button. It has displyed the initial page again and is looping. It did not allow me to proceed further.

I researched on the internet and the Netgear site. I applied the suggestion as follows:

1. I cleared the browser cache and tried again without any success.

2. I tried different browser with out any success.

3. I tried different Pc and different browsers on the second PC without any success.

4. Then, I tried Factory default settings and followed the above steps without any success.

5. I tried connecting a cable and tried without any success.

6. I tried wireless connection without any success.

Basically, I am stuck now and the application of firmware 1.0.2.6 stuffed the device

Can someone help me to resolve the problem?

Better, if a Netgear Technical person explains, what is happening and how to resolve the problem as it happened after applying the firmware update.

Thanks in advance.

  • Problemn Resolved:

Took the extnder back next to the router and did a reset, twice (amber light blinking). Than unplugged and waited 10 seconds and replugged. Started sequence again. worked. started WPS worked. Stayed close to router. Setup worked. Device recognized need to update firmware and did so now shows 1.0.2.6, although it told me it was updating to 1.0.3.x. Have to be patient and when you think it has finished, wait another minute. Always watch for a solid green router light at the end and start of each process step. It may go off inbetween but that is okay. Also check your router whitelist, and turn off during steps. I do not see any further or setting access once the process is complete, it just than says Success and shows the new connection(s).

      Unable to login to extender.
When I selected http://www.mywifiext.net site, It displayed a page with button [ New Extender Setup ].
I selected the button and the browser displayed "Create New Account Window".
I filled the form and press the [ Next ], the NetGear page is re-displayed.

      Tried:

      1. Ccleared the browser cache and tried again.
      2. Ttried different browsers.
      3. Ttried different PC's.
      4. Ttried different PC's with different Operating Systems (Windows 7 & Ubuntu Linux).

      5. Tried my Cell Phone.  It said (once) "You have successfully created an access point", but still could not login to the EX6100!

      6. Bought a new Router and set it up as an Access Point without any problem.  Used the same Ethernet connection with the EX6100, still can not set it up.

      7. Setup the EX6100 as Network Extender.  It works fine, but still cannot login to it by any means.

      8. Set to Factory Default ... again ... still Unable to Login!

  • I have the same problem. IP address just took me back to create account page.
  • The mywifiext.net just does not work. I have had nothing but problems with netgear equipment. I have an R8000 that constantly loses connection and now this extender problem. Fed up with netgear.

Like you, fedup with NetGear, unable to get any help from them.  Thanks to this community, we have knowledgable people willing & ready to help.  Unfortunately, in my case, the things I've tried didn't work.  My next test will be to disconnect all external connections and ... try again.   I've bought a Linksys WRT54GL on sale (new $45.00 CDN).  I set it up as an Access Point and it works just fine.  Now that everything is working, I'll try that Netgear device again ... some time.  No rush!
