AC750 Model EX3700 stopped working wouldn't connect to internet

Hi just some info that might just stop you going insane with Netgear.

My AC750 range extender decided to throw a wobbley and stopped working. After many resets and attempts at a set up both with the Genie and manually nothing worked and the process failed at a number of different stages but usually right at the last step, where you expect the EXT network extensions are presented.

Eventually I suspected a firmware failure and on checking it out on the Netgear web site I found that the firmware on the Extender was the same as the current download??

So next idea was "corrupted firmware", which can be caused due to many reasons eg power spikes etc. Long story shore a download and re-install of the AC750 firmware solved my problem!!! 😄😄😅

It wasn't easy as the Extender could not access the web so I had to download the firmware file onto my PC; extract the ZIP file;  and access the file on my PC from the extender while it was connected to the NETGEAR_EXT. to update/replace the existing firmware. You will get a message saying the file (as at 02/08/2024  192.168.1) is the same but I proceeded any way. The process takes time and for a while nothing seems to be happening but it did finish and then I was able to restart the Genie process from the beginning and stepped through the stages correctly and now is working as intended.

Hope this helps

Not sure what router you have but the EX3700 is a pretty old/slow performing extender.

If you have anything from a newer generation, might be worth upgrading if you need half decent speeds for the extenders usage
