AC750 not seen by router
I've had this Netgear extender in wifi Extender mode for a couple of years, half way between my router and the attic, but it's been quite unreliable due to the distance. So i planned to use it in access point mode, putting it in the attic with a direct connection to the router via a long ethernet cable. Problem is, the router now won't connect to the AC750, even though there's a direct wire connection! Netgear put me on to a help line who said it was an IP conflict problem and wanted $100 to fix. I can't afford that, can anyone help?

What extender do you have? AC750 is a speed. And you put D6000 in your signature which isn't an extender.
Firmware on the extender?
What router is it connected to?
Not sure how you contacted support, but if it was through google, it was probably a scam/con site.

it's model EX6000. The router is supplied by my broadnband company, a virgin media hub 3 I think, their latest model. They upgraded it for me because their previous model also had unreliable wifi connection to the extender. Hence ny giving up and going for a direct wired connection. The firmware is the original, I did try updating it but it wouldn't work when I followed the steps in the manual, Page Not Found I think it said, I assumed because it's not a current model. Should I re-try that as a first step?
