Amazon says EX2700 can be used as access point, thru software switch (it has no hardware AP switch)

Also, I have gathered from a few Amazon reviewers that EX2700 can easily be set up in AP Mode, by simply connecting it to wireless modum/router with ethernet cable.   Can someone here provide or po...

This model can not be used as a AP only a extender.

    If that is the case, can you tell me why Netgear apparently provided Amazon technical specs that it CAN be used as an AP, through a "software switch" ??

    I actually bought this as an extender, but could not get it to work with my ActionTec router. The Netgear technical info and packaging for the EX2700 also states clearly it will work with ANY wifi router.

     

    And, quite a few reviewers at Amazon claim to have set these up as APs and enjoyed excellent results.

     

    In the past, I've had great experiences with Netgear products, so I am quite surprised that the specs represented by Netgear for this EX2700 are not accurate.

     

    Regardless, thanks again for your help.

     

    I guess I just wasted money, time and a great deal of frustration attempting to install, by purchasing two of these extenders.
