Any ETA for replacement to borked EX7000 firmware?

Hi,

Per this previous post and other similar, the .78 firmware for the EX7000 is seriously borked, rendering the unit unusable. While a rollback to .66 per the linked post allows users to continue to use the unit, is there an ETA for a replacement to .78 that retains the features and security fixis, but resolves the issues rendering the unit completely broken?

Thanks!

  • I am having issues with 2.4 ghz signal not showing up any longer after the .78 firmware update.  I guess I will need to go back to .66 version to see if it fixes my issue.  Any suggestions would be helpful.  Very disappointing to me to all of those tied to Netgear.

I have an update.  The following day I was going to try to trouble shoot my Extender after doing the firmware upgrade.  It was on all day until the evening when I brought the EX-7000 extender near my PC thinking I was going to have to plug into it with an internet cable.  However, after powering it down for about 2 minutes before setting up near my PC and testing everying, it is working perfectly.  Of course, I am not sure if it will continue to do so.  So at this point, I would suggest to power down your Extender for a couple of minutes after you do the firmware update and then power up.  If you are still having problems, I would suggest to plug into it with your computer with an ethernet cable to check all of the settings for the Extender.  If it is not right or working properly, I would suggest to do an firmware installation again and then follow it up with a power down for a couple of minutes.  If this still doesn't work, then I would download the previous firmware release for the EX-7000 (Firmware V1.0.1.66) that I have seen other community comment to download and use.  It is my understanding you need to do a hard reset first before you do the router firmware upgrade.  I hope this post helps out the community.  I think this experience has restored my faith in Netgear a little bit.

Final Update.  The extender kept dropping internet connection.  So I just uploaded the previous firmware as noted above and it is working for now.  I will post any further update as needed. Dissappointed in Netgear on a putting out a faulty firmware.
