Bought used how do i unlock it

Okay, Im using an old linksys 2.4 router its what  have though. We bought this universal wifi range extender thinking it was a better router. well i tried to hook it up and i cannot use it because i dont know the login info. so where do i go from here is my question and dont say the store lol.
