Do you have your extenders SSID set with the same name as the main router? if so you may need to have separate SSID.

It is a different SSID. This was the case during installation -- and is still the case.

Have you updated the extender to the latest firmware?

Darren - Thanks. I have not updated the firmware. The device was purchased 2 months ago and was working fine. I have not updated the software of any the devices connecting to it (iPhone and MacBook) -- so not sure what would have changed.
The online suggestions were to reset the device to factory default - which I did.
Is there a reason to believe why a firmware update would help? And if I can't connect to the device - not sure how I would accomplish this.
