Configuration for Nighthawk X6 - powerline 1200 - and AC1200

Question

I have a Nighthawk X6 - the wifi coverage is weak upstairs.

I purchased a powerline 1200 and access point ac1200. My plan is to connect the nighthawk x6 to the ac1200 upstairs using the powerline 1200.

Is this a workable solution?

What configuration of the router and access point would you recommend?

This setup should work fine if you have no issues with the power line connection to the upstairs nothing special would need to be done.
