Connected devices not working

Hello,

I have a Yamaha stereo system connected via ethernet cable to our Wifi extender but I'm not able to see the system on Mac OS System Preferences. Ideally I'd like to play sound from my iPad or Laptop directly through the speakers but I'm having difficulties figuring out how to do this. Any ideas or insights would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
