Connecting to Netgear wifi extender EX6 120
I have a wifi extender (EX6120) bought in UK in 2017. I live part of the year in South Africa and have tried several times to use the extender here. I cannot get it to work. Are the extenders programmed only to work in the country of purchase?

No. The extender has no idea what country it is in.
So it's something else. When you give more details on "doesn't work"? Are you seeing the LEDs light up?
Also, is your router in South Africa using the same network name/password as the one in the UK? If not, how far are you getting into the setup procedure?

Thanks StephenB. I do not need the extender in UK and therefore have only tried to use it in South Africa. I think I have set it up, because it shows up as an available wifi connection (mywifi_2GXT & mywifi_5GXT) I have tried to connect and though my computer says it is connected, I get no internet through it. There is a tick against the extender, but the wifi icon just continues pulsating as it is trying to find the connection.

Is the router led lit on the extender? If so, what color is it?
This could be an issue with WPS setup. You can reset the extender (using a paper clip). At that point you'd see a NETGEAR_EXT network. Join it, and then browse to http://www.mywifiext.net. That will take you to the extender's web setup (not to the internet) and you can complete the setup there. See page 11 (Connect With Web Browser Setup) in the manual here: http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/EX6120/EX6120_UM_25Aug2015.pdf

Quite frankly, after wasting a lot of time trying to connect, I gave up. Sorry, cannot help.
