Connecting to Netgear wifi extender EX6 120

Question

I have a wifi extender (EX6120) bought in UK in 2017. I live part of the year in South Africa and have tried several times to use the extender here. I cannot get it to work. Are the extenders programmed only to work in the country of purchase?

No.&nbsp; The extender has no idea what country it is in.

So it's something else.&nbsp; When you give more details on "doesn't work"?&nbsp; Are you seeing the LEDs light up?&nbsp;&nbsp;

Also, is your router in South Africa using the same network name/password as the one in the UK?&nbsp; If not, how far are you getting into the setup procedure?

Thanks StephenB. I do not need the extender in UK and therefore have only tried to use it in South Africa. I think I have set it up, because it shows up as an available wifi connection (mywifi_2GXT &amp; mywifi_5GXT) I have tried to connect and though my computer says it is connected, I get no internet through it. There is a tick against the extender, but the wifi icon just continues pulsating as it is trying to find the connection.

Is the router led lit on the extender?&nbsp; If so, what color is it?

This could be an issue with WPS setup.&nbsp; You can reset the extender (using a paper clip).&nbsp; At that point you'd see a NETGEAR_EXT network.&nbsp; Join it, and then browse to http://www.mywifiext.net.&nbsp; That will take you to the extender's web setup (not to the internet) and you can complete the setup there. Hi StephenB. Thank you for trying to help. I have reset the extender and it no longer appears as an available wifi connection. However, I cannot see anywhere a NETGEAR_EXT network. Where should this be found? I have logged on to www.mywifiext.net and found nothing helpful there. It just tells me that I am not connected to my wifi extender.

I then set up the extender again via WPS and logged on to it. There was again, no internet connection.
&nbsp;
I have read and re-read the manual several times, but cannot see anything I have done wrong. I have to say that I have successfully connected many devices etc over the years, but this is the most frustrating and confusing thing that I have come up against. I am sure that there must be a simple answer to the problem, but I am at a complete loss. Help!!!

Hi Headgear42,

After resetting the extender by using a small paper clip you can find NETGEAR_EXT as a wifi network on a wireless device. From there, as StephenB mentions, browse&nbsp;to&nbsp;http://www.mywifiext.net.&nbsp;&nbsp;and it will take you to the extender's web setup.&nbsp;
