I think I have been hoodwinked by marketing, I have always understood 'mesh' to refer to peer to peer, with messages being passed between nodes. It seems Netgear have redefined 'mesh' as using the same wifi ssid. In my opinion this is deceptive and I'll be returning my two EX7500 as they don't appear to be able to work as a 'mesh' so far as I can see. I've asked on this forum and sent a message to support, but had no reply in either case.

 

Other potential purchasers, please don't be fooled by this marketing!
