Devices not connecting to WN2000RPTv2
Hi there
I have an issue with my wifi range extender. It was working fine up until 2 days ago. My builder has been unplugging the power from it during the day and when i get home i plug it back in and normally it has been working fine but not for the last couple of days. It is visible in my wifi settings list and shows that it has lots of bars of reception but when i select the _EXT option, it says it is "connecting" but then doesnt connect at all and just keeps trying to connect if i leave it. I have restarted it, restarted the main modem, done a few factory resets on the extender and re-set it up. I tried to go to mywifiext.net to see what it was doing but it just says "You are not connected to your extender's WiFi network". I downloaded the latest firmware but i dont know how to install it if the mywifiext.net doesnt work. I am a bit of a dummy with computers so any help will have to be with small words and short sentences please lol. I did something (cant remember what) and the message that came up was "Problem with wireless adapter or access point". Does this mean there is a problem with the extender "talking" to the main wifi router? There seem to be no problems connecting to our normal wifi, just the _EXT one.
Thanks in advance

Try hardwiring into the device with an ethernet cable. This should allow you to update firmware and to try manually setting it up while hard wired.
Make sure to update the firmware over the hardwired connection, reset it afterwards, and then do the installation of it.
Here's your support site with manuals, firmware, troubleshooting.

Hi Plemans thanks for your response. I have tried to connect using an ethernet cable. I plugged the cable into the extender and the other end into the laptop. When I did this I lost the ability to connect to the wifi on the laptop completely from both the main and the EXT connections. I get the message “Windows was unable to connect to …_EXT” when I try that one, and when I try the main wireless, it shows that it is connected but nothing loads. When I unplug the ethernet cable, I am all connected to the wifi again. I also tried plugging the ethernet cable from the extender to the main router but I still could not connect to the EXT, although the main wifi works fine.
I have downloaded the firmware but when I go to mywifiext, it just says “you are not connected to your extender’s WiFi network”.
When I try to connect to the EXT and then troubleshoot the problem, Window’s diagnosis of the issue is “problem with wireless adapter or access point”.
I am sure I must be missing something but I just can't work out what it is. Any ideas?

so try this.
1. Reset the extender back to factory. (hold reset for 7-10 seconds)
2. shut off wifi on your laptop (shouldn't be trying to use it if hardwired in)
3. Connect via ethernet to the extender.
4. connect to www.mywifiext.net
5. Default login is admin and password is password for the defaults.
6. Follow the manual installation instructions. Don't use wps
did this work? Where did it fail?
Firmware on extender?

Did you enable the tftp client in windows 7? Sorry, didn't know you were on windows 7 and missed getting back to you. I'd reach out to Christian_R as well as trying to enable the tftp client.
