Disable Nighthawk x4 ac2200 connection to router over 5ghz
Good morning.
Nighthawk x4 ex7300 range extender ac2200.
How do i disable the 5ghz connection from router to extender in the extender's settings?
Under "do more > FastLane" I can 2.4 the router to extender but then it has to be 5ghz out from there. I want 2.4 and 2.4.
During smart setup I unticked the option to extend the 5ghz network but the next page or 2 it still asked for authentication type and password for that frequency.
Reason I'm asking is extender works fine when connecting to router on 2.4 but the router has a feature where it determines which frequency is best for the connecting device and pushes the router onto that one. The extender is too far for the 5 network.
Previously I disabled that ability in the router but it's a clients router and I don't want to keep bugging them each time they reset or mess up their settings.

Hi TheResoluteMind,
Run the smart wizard again and uncheck 5GHz while you choose your existing network that way it'll connect to 2.4GHz of your main network, but not the 5GHz.
