Do I need an extender; if so, how can I be sure my current Negear N300 is working?

I just bought and have installed an AC1600 WiFi Cable Modem Router, Model C6250.&nbsp; All seems to be working fine except a previously installed older Range Extender: N300 Model EX2700.&nbsp; Do I need it?; it is 2 stories up in my home from the router.&nbsp; I tried to "install" it with the new router but have reached a dead end.&nbsp; The name of the extender is my old network _EXT; if the extender is working, how do I change its name to the current router?&nbsp;

you can factory reset it and reinstall it.But if you have adequate coverage, you might not even need it.
