EAX20 ethernet backhaul
Hi,
Is the EAX20 capable of ethernet backhaul? I want to achieve:
- Use ethernet cable to connect EAX20 to my router;
- EAX20 SSID same as router SSID.
I know I can set EAX20 as AP but technically it should has a different SSID. On the other hand extender mode only works when connecting to router through WiFi.
When its hardwired in, it needs to be in AP mode as you've found out. You can set it with the same ssid as the primary router but devices won't roam as efficiently.
So with the extenders, you're kind of caught in a catch-22 as they'll perform better in terms of speed hardwired in but devices won't roam as well as they should. So do you use the faster method with poorer roaming or the slower method (extender) but efficient roaming?
The only kits that support both hardwired and wireless backhaul are the full mesh systems like orbi and the MK nighthawk.
